...1915 the 1st Royal Berkshire war diary entry reads:
In billets. CO's orders at 8.30 am. 9.30 am. Relieved S Staffs in subsection A2. 11.25 am Relief complete. B on right, A centre and C left. D in support. An unusually quiet day and night. 2 casualties, both wounded.
Each regiment maintained a Digest of Service. This was a journal which recorded events in the life of the regiment. There was no set format and the amount of detail varied between regiments. Summary information has been extracted, and is presented here, from each of the four regiments' digests run from their formation until 1914.
