We are looking for some volunteers to join The Rifles Museum in Salisbury’s newly formed living history group The Wardrobe Redcoats. We are a brand new multi period history group that aims to focus on education and outreach at the museum. We will be bringing to life the units and regiments connected to the museum, including The Wiltshire Regiment, The Berkshire Regiment and all their predecessors and ancestors and of course their attached arms (Medics, Nurses, Engineers etc).
The group will cover from the American Revolutionary War right up to World War 2 with living history displays, engaging with visitors and the community, and running activities with the public, and generally making history more fun and hands on. Volunteers will need to have their own uniforms or costumes; however, we can supply cap badges, shoulder titles etc.
We will be primarily setting up displays at the museum outside with replica encampments, interactive displays, however we will also be attending events elsewhere like a conventional living history group.
If you are interested, please contact the curator: [email protected] for more information and to organise you coming down and visiting the museum and the living history team.
