Entry Marched to SCHERPENBERG to trenches in front of KEMMEL relieved Lincolns. Relief finished at 8p.m. 3 Coys in firing line. Rough estimate of our own wastage since the beginning of the campaign (3 months today, 4 Nov, since receipt of orders to mobilise) Officers Went into the field with - 27 Losses up to 23 Sep 1914 - 10 (Casualties officers: killed; Capt Dawes, Lts Roseveare, Cruikshank, Capt Reynolds, Wounded; Lt Col Hastead, Capt Rowan, Lts Browne, Loder Symonds, Carrington & Beaver. Capt Mee and 2Lt Lloyd slightly wounded and didn't report sick are not included.) 7 Reinforcements up to 1st Nov - 13 (includes Capt Rowan, Lt Browne, Lt Carrington - returned from being wounded) Losses in action sick, up to 1st Nov - 16 9 Casualties Officers: Killed; Capt Stoddart, Capt Formby, Capt Gee (since dead). Wounded; Capts Rowan, Davies, Lt Richardson, 2 Lt Gaskell. Missing, believed prisoners; Lts Oliphant, Wand-Tetley, 2 Lts Rose, Lloyd, Riley, Watson and Martin. Invalided sick; Stewart, Lovell, Hewitt. Total 16) Balance - 14 Rank and File Went into the field with - 977 Losses up to 23rd September - 360 Reinforcements up to 1st November - 550 Losses in action sick up to 1st November - 640 Balance - 527 Present state shows 14 officers including Medical Officer and 521 Rank and File Total wastage up to date in first 3 months appears to be 26 officers and about 1000 men, or practically a whole battalion.
