| Entry | (Monday) Endeavoured to make position more difficult of entry. Shelled. Got 2 new machine guns in place those lost on August 26th near LE CATEAU. 4th Bde on our right attacked about 6p.m. An attempt to draw our fire by the enemy firing at long range from his trenches was made at 7p.m. and was successful from enemy's point of view as an almost continuous fusillade went on throughout the night in some parts of the line. This wild firing at night badly wants checking and discouraging. |
