Three Coys ordered to entrench position on N of CIPLY and facing MONS. Were shelled by enemy whilst doing so, and until nightfall. Three companies ordered to entrench position on N of CIPLY facing MONS, were shelled by enemy whilst doing so and until nightfall. Entrenching continues throughout the night. Battle of MONS. Regiment did not take part in this engagement beyond entrenching at CIPLY.
