War Diary

1919-03-17
Regiment 8th Royal Berkshire
Location France, CLARY
Entry Batt moved to this village. Billets here were not so good as those at BERTRY. All the billets were in the RUE DE LA GARE. An entertainment committee on which each unit in CLARY was represented, was formed soon after the Battalion's arrival. 2nd Lieut Roberts represented the Batt. A series of dances had been organised by individual units before these were now arranged by this committee. Bi-weekly dances, sports, football matches, cinema shows etc were held. The civilians of CLARY were invited. By this means the troops and civilians were afforded amusement and a very friendly feeling established between the French and ourselves. AFB213.
