Entry VISIT OF HIS MAJESTY THE KING TO 18TH DIV AREA. HIS MAJESTY THE KING who was visiting the Third Army Area passed through the 18th Divisional Area, the route for His tour being MONTIGNY-CLARY-MARETZ-SERAIN-ELINCOURT-SELVIGNY-CAULLERY. Time of departure from MONTIGNY 1140 hrs. The Battalion (Less advance party see below) was grouped around the ESTREES-MARTEZ-PREMONT-SERAIN X Roads on the S.E. corner. Other Units of the Brigade were also in the vicinity. 12:00. His Majesty arrived at about 1200 hrs. He descended from his car and walked through the assembled troops who greeted Him with great enthusiasm. Move to BEAURVOIR. The Battalion had been ordered to move to BEAUREVOIR today. 10:00. In order that as many men as possible could see the King the move took place in two portions. The 1st party composed of representatives from each platoon paraded at 1000 hrs and proceeded to the new area. The 2nd party after after seen His Majesty, paraded at 1400 hrs and marched to BEAUREVOIR. BEAUREVOIR. 16:00. The Battalion arrived in billets. Although the village had suffered a great deal from our shelling both in 1917 and this year, the billets were quite comfortable, this being due to the efforts of Lieut Wallis MM, who had with the Battalion Pioneers, worked hard on the improvements for several days.
