Where billets were entered. The salient feature apparent to and remarked upon by all ranks was that whereas on the battle-field of the Somme (upon a part of which the Battalion fought so hard during the Autumn and Winter of 1916 and again in April, August and September of 1918), over which the present journey had been made, where every house in practically every town and village had been raized to the ground, in the area in which it was now situated villages had been almost immune from any bombardment. |
