Entry Day generally quiet. 6PM. Battalion HQ moved to cutting in light railway about E.24 a 2.8. In the evening orders were received for an attack on LEMPIRE. The objective was to form a line running from YAK POST ST. PATRICKS AVE DOSE TRENCH LEMPIRE POST (N) THISTLE TRENCH and ST. PATRICKS AVE as a defensive flank facing West. Order of attack: "C" Coy on the left were to form a defensive flank and occupy YAK POST. "B" Coy in the centre were to occupy DOSE TRENCH and LEMPIRE POST (N). A Coy on the right were to occupy THISTLE TRENCH and form junction with B Coy. 1 platoon D Coy were to occupy ENFER WOOD. "D" Coy (less 1 platoon) and 7th R.W. Kents were formed up in rear with orders to pass through to final objective.
