Entry 2:0PM. Battalion moved to positions outside COMBLES. In the evening orders were received for attack on ST. PIERRE VAAST WOOD and high ground to N of it. The high ground was assigned to 10th Essex Regt while the 8th Royal Berks Regt were to advance in echelon behind their right flank and form a defensive flank facing South along approx line of central E and W side thro' wood. Subsequently ST. PIERRE VAAST WOOD was to be mopped up and touch gained with 47th Divn on the right.
