Entry Prior to the morning of 24th April the following orders had been received in regard to the action of the Batt in case of enemy attack on Corps Front. 18th Division was in Corps Reserve. 53rd Infantry Brigade was concentrated at ST. FUSCIEN. On receipt of orders Batt was to move as per Appendix II and III. 4:45AM. Batt was ordered to move to 1st stage Z hour - 5AM. 5:15AM. Battalion moved to 1st stage. Order of march Hd Qrs, A, D, B, C Coys. 6:35AM. Arrived at 1st stage S5c Batt in Artillery formation below crest of hill. 12:45PM. Orders to move to 2nd stage received. 1PM. Batt moved to 2nd position. 4:20PM. Arrived in assembly positions. Batt was then ordered to occupy BLANGY defences in N34d. These positions were occupied as follows:- A Coy on left, D Coy on right in front line, B Coy in support and C Coy in reserve. Batt Hd Qrs were at N34c8.9. L'ABBE DEFENCES. 7:9PM. Batt was ordered to and relieved Right Batt of the 8th Division in the L'ABBE Defences. 11:20PM. Relief reported complete. Took over from 2nd Batt NORTHAMPTON Regt from U.Ic5.6 - U.32c3.4. 3 Coys in Front Line and 1 Coy (C) in Reserve. Batt now came under orders of 24th Inf Bde bth Division. Were in touch with Sherwoods on left and 58th Division, 2/2nd London Regt on right.
