War Diary

1918-01-21
Regiment 8th Royal Berkshire
Location France, FRONT LINE
Entry "A" and "C" Corps relieved "D" and "B" Corps 2nd ROYAL SUSSEX REGT in Front Line passing COMORAN DUMP at 4.40pm and 4.50pm respectively. 2PM. "B" and "D" Coys left Billets and took over those occupied at MONDOW FARM. Relief of "A" and "C" Corps (which was a good one) was complete by 7.17pm. The two companies of Battalion were holing a slightly shallow frontage as that previously held by the 4 companies during the last tour. By this method two companies were able to be used for wiring and general work on improvements to the line. In addition these coys in support provided parties to carry hot tea and soup to the advanced companies from CARREF DE LONDRES. Here cooks were situated (about 1 mile behind Front Line). This arrangement, as before, worked quite satisfactorily.
