Entry | A special feature of the training was The Obstacle Course. The Camp was bounded on the North by the Sea. It being necessary in the interests of the Battalion to repost Lieut Colonel C.A.S. CARLETON DSO to the 1/6th Batt The Welsh Regt, Lieut Colonel R.E. DEWING DSO (who joined the Battalion on 13th inst) assumed command of the Battalion on 19th JULY 1917 on Lieut Colonel Carleton relinquishing command. On 10th July 1917 the 1st Batt NORTHANTS Regt which was holding the front line previously held and organised by this Battalion, was attacked by the Germans and were forced to yield ground. Casualties during this month were:- Died of Wounds 1. Wounded 2. Accidentally Wounded (rejoined) 1. CAPTAIN J.H.G. LAWRENCE Admitted to Hospital 2.7.17. 2nd LIEUT R.W. CRAMPIN Rejoined from Hospital 2.7.17. 2nd LIEUT F. MOOR Joined Battalion 14.7.17. MAJOR G.A. BATTCOCK Joined Battalion 22.7.17 from 1/4th Batt Royal Berkshire Regt 2nd LIEUT R.S.P. POYNYZ struck off the strength of the Battalion 7.7.17 on being taken on the establishment of the Corps School. 13 OR re-joined the Battalion from No 46 I.B. Depot during the month.
