War Diary

1917-05-19
Regiment 8th Royal Berkshire
Location France, MARCELCAVE
Entry The battalion moved to MARCELCAVE. The march was a very trying one, not owing to the distance which was only ten miles but on account of the day which was very sultry. A number of men fell out from all battalions in the brigade but on the whole the brigade marched well having far fewer fall outs than another brigade which had had much shorter march. Billets in MARCELCAVE good, the village itself large and inhabited by French and it had received no damage. Rich agricultural land all cultivated, so there was no training ground available.
