Regiment | 8th Royal Berkshire |
---|---|
Location | France, CONTRAL MAISON |
Entry | 3:0PM. The Corps heavy artillery bombarded the enemy's switch line and MUNSTER ALLEY. Our front line was evacuated while the bombardment lasted = about 5 hours. 8:30PM. The enemy bombarded our trenches heavily from 8:30pm to 10:30pm and a heavy barrage was put up between O.G.I. and "The CUTTING". This bombardment may have been in retaliation for the bombardment of the enemy's trenches by our heavy Corps artillery during the afternoon and evening or it may have been an attempt to attract the attention of our artillery from DELVILLE WOOD when the enemy were delivering a counter attack. |
