Entry Battalion moved from trenches near LOZENGE WOOD to the trenches W of MAMETZ WOOD according to the following Orders:- Orders for move. I. 10th Glosters and 1st Camerons will relieve Black Watch in Front line tonight. Boundary Railway 3201.2 to cross tracks 57G3.3 to E corner of VILLA WOOD. II. 8th Berks will take over trenches West of MAMETZ WOOD with HQ in SHELTER WOOD. 8th Berks will be in support to Glosters and Camerons. III. The Battalion will be distributed as follows:- "B" Company in sunken road near "The CUTTING." "C" Company in PEARL ALLEY (near the cemetery). "A" and "D" Companies in QUADRANGLE SUPPORT TRENCH. Battn HQ at SHELTER WOOD. IV. Two Lewis guns will be placed at the disposal of each Company. V. "B" Company will start to move at 9.0pm. Remaining Companies will move at 10 minutes interval. CONTAL MAISON.11:0PM. The enemy started to bombard SHELTER WOOD with his new, small explosive but very pungent gas shells. This lasted until dawn and smoke helmets had to be worn.
