Entry | From June 25th onwards minor operations had been continuously carried out along our front in order to detract the enemy's attention from other portions of the line where the main offensive action was about to take place. These minor operations had consisted of intense and concentrated trench mortar, rifle grenades, machine gun and artillery bombardments on selected points of the enemy's line. To the first few bombardments there was practically no retaliation but soon it was noticed that the enemy became more alert and watchful and his retaliation was quick and in time. It seems therefore that the main object of the minor operations had been gained. |
