Location France, FRONT LINE ("Double Crassier")
Entry 10:0PM. A patrol went out from out trenches just north of the "Double Crassier". The patrol was led by No 18567 Pte G.W. YATES who went out to discover any movement of the enemy near CRASSIER SAP. He discovered an enemy working party in the enemy's end of the SAP. Returning at once he led a bombing party of three men out of our sap. The party succeeded in crawling within four yards of the enemy and successfully bombed them. The enemy dispersed pursued by Pte YATES, alone, until he had exhausted his supply of bombs.
