Entry | 6:0AM. The Battn "stood to arms" on information received that an enemy attack was being delivered on the 16th Divisional (HULLUCH) front. From 4:0 in the morning LES BREBIS and neighbourhood had been bombarded with great violence, and gas was also reported to have been released. Between 7:0 and 8:0 the artillery fire slackened and at about 7:30am orders were given by the Brigade to stand down. Later in the day it was known that the enemy had succeeded in gaining access to the CHALK PIT, but were counter attacked and driven out. |
