Entry The battalion assisted to line the streets of LILLERS on the occasion of the visit paid by General JOFFRE to the 4th Corps. Special Order: "General Sir Henry RAWLINSON, commanding 1st Army, desires me to convey to the General Commanding and Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Men of the 1st Division, his appreciation of the work they have done in the reconstruction of the trenches between HULLUCH ROAD and LOOS. The Army Commander considers that they have handed them over a model of what trenches should be and that this reflects very great credit on the Division as a whole. He wishes me to convey his congratulations to them on the result."
