Entry | Evening: The Battalion was relieved by the 2nd Welch Regiment, and marched to NOEUX-LES-MINES. NOEUX-LES-MINES: 11:0PM: Arrived in NOEUX-LES-MINES, and went into billets. The number of casualties sustained by the battalion during the five days in the trenches was two only, but there were several cases of severe trench foot, most of which came on very suddenly. These were probably caused by the not general issue of trench boots. Trench boots now having been issued, and regulations as to rubbing and greasing of feet having been framed, further cases should be rare. The weather was tolerably fine. |
