Entry The men were very tired but at 0400 hrs pushed onto IZLIS which was reached at dawn. A platoon of D Coy (2L G.E. BERRY) was sent forward to reconnoitre and capture 3 machine guns and 1 prisoner. In the meantime machine gun fire opened from THE PYRAMIDS (left rear) and the Bn was turned about and deployed for attack on this position (for these operations see CO's report attached) No food was obtained till 1700 hrs and orders were given for iron rations to be eaten. The men had marched 10 miles all night had been under heavy rifle and MG fire in an exposed position for 9 hours, and had been 25 hours without food. A very large quantity of booty of all kinds were collected here. An outpost line was established E of IZLIS for the night and Bn was now in touch with 79th Bde on left. Remarks. 2/Lt R.E. Childs wounded, 2 OR killed, 12 OR wounded, 3 Mules killed, 2 Horses killed.
