Entry Work as yesterday. Enemy artillery. Quiet. 0620 hours 5 rounds in front of M2 trenches. Patrol. 3 Officers 2Lt SHILLCOCK, Lt WEAVER and 2Lt BERRY, 24 Bn Scouts, 46 ORS with 3 L Gun det left VAN 8 and VAN 10 at 0125 hours to raid enemy outposts between PITON de QUATRE ARBRES and MACUKOVO. Party A Lt WEAVER in Comd 40 ORS and 2 L Gun det took up position S of QUATRE ARBRES. Party B 2Lt SHILLCOCK in command took up position for attack at pt 1120/1771. At 0210 party opened fire on QUATRE ARBRES with rifle, L. Gun and rifle grenades. At 0213 this party ceased fire and advanced up QUATRE ARBRES, at the same time party B advanced to attack enemy outposts from the rear. As party A advanced they were met by rifle fire and bombs from post on QUATRE ARBRES, but they continued this advance and on reaching crest of hill found enemy had bolted. Party A discovered that the enemy had evacuated his post. Both parties returned to our lines with only one casualty. One man slightly wounded in spite of the barrage enemy put down at intervals.
