Entry Work. As yesterday. Enemy artillery. 1310-1650 12 rounds 105mm HE on this sector. 1755-1825 hours registered track between M3 and VAN 8 with light shells. Patrol. 2 Officers (2Lt SKERMAN and Lt LILLIAM T.M. Batty) 10 OR and L Gun det and 1 T.M. Section left VAN 12 2015 hours, and proceeded to a point S of PITON des QUATRE ARBRES. T.M. and L Gun opened fire on enemy post on QUATRE ARBRES. This brought enemy barrage down, first in front of QUATRE ARBRES then in front of our outpost wire, and then lifted between outpost and main line trench. Rifle and machine gun fire was also opened from QUATRE ARBRES. Patrol returned via VAN 12. Remarks. 2 Ors rejoined, 2 ORS sick to hospital, 3 ORS proceed to Base to join O.T.C.
