Entry Work as yesterday. Enemy artillery quiet. 1600 hours fired 13 rounds HE on RAVINE de CUISINIERS. Patrol of 1 Officer (Lt WEAVER), 20 ORS and 1 L Gun det left VAN 8 2300 hours proceeded to PITON de L'EGLISE, reconnoitred sunken track S of church, searched houses in vicinity. No enemy was encountered. Patrol then moved to Pl. 1116/1768 and fired rifle grenades on rear slope of PITON des QUATRE ARBRES. Enemy retaliated with rifle fire. Patrol returned via VAN 10 0300 without further incident. Remarks. 5 ORS rejoined, 2 ORS sick to hospital.
