Location Greece, M. SECTOR
Entry Work as yesterday. Enemy artillery. At 0535 hours placed 18 rounds 105MM H.E. N of M2 and 25 rounds H.E. on MACUKOVO. At 0530 about 40 rifle shots were fired from ORCHARD N of PITON des QUATRE ARBRES into MACUKOVO. At 0540 hours 3 men were seen crawling up NE slopes of PITON de L'EGLISE they disappeared into bushes by church. Patrol of 1 Officer (2Lt MITCHELL) and 16 ORS left M3 at 2015 to reconnoitre ground round MACUKOVO. Had to lay up on outskirts of village, owing to enemy shelling. Patrol returned to M3 and again went out as a protection patrol to two Artillery Officers at 2030 hours. The village was reconnoitred, proclamations were posted in conspicuous places. Nothing was seen or heard of the enemy. Patrol returned 0030 hrs via VAN (L).
