Location Greece, M. SECTOR
Entry Work in trenches, draining revetting. Strengthening line in front of M8. Dining shelter and winter dugouts being constructed on MM8. Enemy artillery. Between 2125 hrs and 2215 hrs enemy placed 6 rounds H.E. on VAN 8 and VAN 10. Between 2330 and 0300 hrs enemy fired Trench Mortar into MACUKOVO RAVINE. Enemy machine gun from behind VERTEBRE N2 fired on our aeroplanes. Patrol of 2 Officers (2Lts SHILLCOCK and ANDREAS) and 30 ORS incl L.G. det left VAN 8 at 2000 hours to reconnoitre Road Crossing over MACUKOVO and CARDIFF RAVINES, locate enemy post and if possible kill or capture enemy. Roads were reconnoitred and found to be quite good in places. Tracks leading up to enemy posts in BANGOR and CARDIFF were easily followed, but enemy had withdrawn. Patrol returned without incident. As patrol was entering our trenches, the enemy fired trench mortars into MACUKOVO RAVINE. Rifle fire was opened from the direction of PITON DES QUATRE ARBRES and MACHINE GUN HILL. This was carried on for some time. 1 OR rejoin.
