Entry | Work continued as yesterday. Enemy artillery fired nine rounds on L5 during the morning. Between 2220-2250 hours they fired 49 rounds on AL4, L4 and L8. Cookhouse at AL4 was partly destroyed, meat safe blown to bits, days meat and sugar ration blown up, 1 kettle lamp and 2 mess tins damaged. A patrol of one officers (2Lt A.V. SHILLCOCK MC) and 20 ORS reconnoitred BORDER RAVINE and around N to enemy wire at Pt 11445/17782 MAC. O. D. Enemy wire very thick. Movement was heard from approx pt 11430/17740 and two Bulgars were seen to get and run up the direction of the NOSE, where they disappeared through the wire. Patrol advanced up the second fork of ravine running NE which was found to lead to enemy wire. Enemy appears to have a bombing post at point 11443/17790. Remarks. 2 ORS rejoined from hospital. |
