Entry | Work continued as yesterday. Batt HQ Coy settled into new camp. Work still in progress at this camp. Enemy artillery inactive during the day except for 5 rounds 77mm fired on L5 during the morning. At about 0050 hrs an explosion was heard coming from behind the DOME. It was followed by a bright light lasting about 25 minutes. A patrol of 1 Officer and 20 Ors (2/Lt CHILDS and Batt Scouts) left our lines at 2030 and proceeded MACUKOVO RAV crossing it at "Six Tree Crossing" to Y. RAVINE, then along right fork of latter to CHAPEAU RAV. Patrol lay up for Bulgar patrol, but nothing was seen or heard of the enemy. When returning patrol heard enemy working party and called down salvo from artillery by pre-arranged signal much shouting and noise were heard. Capt H.A.L. DONKIN and Lt H.V.G. RIVINGTON returned from KARABURUN change of air camp. Remarks. 1 OR to hospital (sick), 2/Lt G.I. BERRY to Gramatra Con Camp. |
