Entry Work continued in new Hd Qr camp MAMELON Noir. Work is being pushed on here so that the camp can be occupied by the 15th. Work was also done upon main line and outpost line trenches and wire. Enemy artillery very active during the evening and during the night 11th/12th. Up to midnight between 30 and 40 shells were fired on L8 trenches and camp. This was probably the reply to our artillery shoot in connection with the patrol sent out by this Batt. On the night 11th/12th a patrol of 2 Officers and 24 ORS (2/Lts R.E. CHILDS and A.V. SHILLCOCK and Batt Scouts) left AL4 to proceed to pt 11415/1773 with the object to capture or kill a Bulgar Post believed to be there. Our artillery co-operated by opening fired on enemy front line trenches at 2200. Immediately artillery opened fire patrol reconnoitred spot where enemy post was believed to be but saw nobody. During a second burst of artillery fire from our batteries loud screams were heard from the trenches on the NOSE. Our patrol returned without incident. Remarks. 8 ORS rejoined from hospital.
