Entry Work was done on New Hd Qrs camp MAMELON NOIR and upon main line trenches, outpost positions and wire. At 2000 hrs a gas alarm was practised by the whole Battalion. During the evening enemy artillery shelled L8 and L6 camps and heavily shelled in the direction of GLEN SMOL. Our artillery replied on various enemy camps particularly on BLUE RAVINE and the DOME. The night was quiet. A test barrage was called by the Left Coy. Test took 1 minute - message reached Artillery F.O.O. at 0147 hrs. Round fired at 0148 hrs.
