Entry Work as usual, night parties still working on new outpost line. At 0100 hrs enemy artillery fired about 20 rounds along the wire in front of outpost position no. 4, and between 0510 and 0600 hrs fired 12 rounds on no. 4 post wire and one round on ONE TREE HILL. Enemy machine guns from the DOME fired several bursts along this sector. During the night the enemy has endeavoured to mend the gaps in his wire in front of PITON DES MITRAILLEUSES. A patrol of 1 Officer (2/LT C.B. ANDRAEA) and 20 ORS was sent to approx pt. 1113/1768 to lie up and wait for enemy patrols. Although slight movement was occasionally heard, careful reconnaissance by forward scouts failed to discover any of the enemy. Patrol returned to our lines without incident. Remarks. 4 ORS to hospital sick, 1 OR rejoin from hospital.
