Entry | Work was carried out in front line camps - BPs being Gas-proofed - and quadrant dining shelters erected. Work was also continued on new outpost line and wire. Between 0415 and 0430 a Vickers MG fired 1000 rounds on THE DOME and PITON DES MITRAILLEUSES, from M4. Much movement at this hour is seen on these positions and Vickers Gun fire was therefore used. A protective patrol of 1 NCO and 8 ORS operated between co-ordinates 11265/1764 and 1113/17675. When in the neighbourhood of PITON DE L'EGLISE patrol was fired upon from direction of PITON DES QUATRE ARBRES. At about 0415 our Vickers MG Gun section fired about 1000 rounds on the DOME. At 0345 a Bulgar was heard hurrying away from the wire in the neighbourhood of no 5 outpost position. Enemy artillery during the day inactive, but shelled MM8 at intervals during the night. Remarks. 1 OR to hospital (sick), 2 ORS rejoined. |
