War Diary

1918-05-10
Regiment 7th Royal Berkshire
Location Greece, M Sector
Entry Work as usual. At 0250 hrs the enemy fired many rifle shots and threw bombs in the direction of PITON DES QUATRE ARBRES. Presumably an enemy patrol heard movement in the neighbourhood and fired. A large eagle was observed on the hill in the morning and it appeared to be wounded. This may have been the cause of rousing the Bulgar in the early morning when he fired. A small patrol under Lt WEAVER left our lines at 2030 hrs, and searched MACUKOVO village and PITON de L'EGLISE but no signs of the enemy or his patrols were found. Proclamations entitled "GERMANY and BULGARIA" were distributed in match boxes etc by the patrol. 2LT G.W. PEARCE and two ORS departed for STAVROS for 6 days rest. Remarks. 5 ORS to hospital sick.
