Entry Work on trenches and wire in front of main line. Work under RE on gas proofing dug outs and on mosquito proof shelters in front line camps. Work still progressing on Screen from GLEN SMOL to M8. Enemy artillery inactive. Our heavies registered on points in front of the right of this sector, much movement observed recently in the neighbourhood of enemy dug outs at approx pt 1126/1776. Aeroplane down on ground NE of GUEVGUELI BRIDGE, presumed to be an enemy machine. French artillery shelled ground round the 'plane. Night of 30/4/18 1/5/18 Patrol of 2 officers (2/Lts SHILLCOCK and BACK) and 20 ORS patrolled to PITON DES QUATRE ARBRES and reconnoitred W slope of the hill. One of the enemy was seen to advance over crest of hill. Our scouts lay perfectly still hoping to catch remainder of enemy party that could be heard behind, when suddenly the Bulgar disappeared as though he had heard movement. Scouts search Orchard N of the hill but saw no enemy. Remarks 1 OR to hospital (sick).
