Entry Work under RE on dug outs - gas proofing and ventilating, wiring by night. Patrol of 2 Officers (Capt ELLIS and 2/Lt PRIME) and 20 ORS, left M6 at 2030 hrs and proceeded to pt 1118/5/1764 300 yds S of PITON DE L'EGLISE. No enemy patrols were seen but from latter point movement was heard at approx point 1117/1770 - 300 yds E of PITON DES ARBRES. A second patrol under Scouts officer 2/Lt SHILLCOCK went from M4 through MACUKOVO. The roads were cobbled and uneven and difficult to walk quietly on. No enemy patrols or posts were seen or heard. Enemy transport was heard in direction of MULBERRY WOOD. Remarks. 1 OR to hospital (sick).
