Entry Work on trenches and wiring during the night. A patrol of two officers 2/Lts CAMPION and BERRY and 20 ORS left M6 and proceeded to WESTERN slopes of PITON DE L'EGLISE. Patrol met no enemy posts, but heard working party in the VINEYARDS although unable to locate it. A second reconnoitring patrol left consisting of 2/LT S.A. BANFIELD and 15 ORS left M4 at 2400 hrs, and proceeded to MACUKOVO and thence to CARDIFF RAVINE no enemy patrols or posts were located. A rush screen was found in MACUKOVO RAVINE. Enemy fired 4 rounds 77 mm on MM8 and enemy H.V. Gun fired several rounds. Approx direction of OREOVICA during the afternoon. Remarks. 1 OR to hospital (sick).
