Entry | Coys worked upon Front Line trenches and commenced to strengthen wire by starting to make wire blocks. On the night of the 21st/22nd 2/Lieut P. BACK and 30 OR patrolled to MACUKOVO, but saw no signs of enemy patrols. The ground in the vicinity of the village was found to be thickly covered with dried grass and scrub. During the same night 2/Lieut DIXON and 15 OR proceeded along MACUKOVO TRACK to PITON DES QUATRE ARBRES. Two of the enemy were seen near one of the trees, but immediately took cover on approach of our patrol. Very soon the crest of hill was lined with the enemy and the patrol being outnumbered 2/Lieut DIXON withdrew, enemy artillery put down a barrage on MACUKOVO and MACUKOVO TRACK. Enemy artillery inactive. Remarks. 3 OR to hospital sick, 11 reinforcements. |
