Entry During the day of the 20th Coys were employed upon Coy camps, especially working upon sanitation of and clearing camps. On the night 20th/21st 2/Lt A.V. SHILLCOCK and 16 Ors (Batt Scouts) patrolled to PITON DE L'EGLISE and PITON DES QUATRE ARBES. Soon after leaving our own wire two BULGARIAN DESERTERS gave themselves up to the patrol. These deserters afterwards proved to be two L/Cpl's of the [no number recorded] th Bulgarian Regt. The patrol proceeded to point 1118/1771 (SMOL 1/20000 3A) where it was challenged and fired upon by an enemy post. Fire was returned by half the patrol while the remainder withdrew. The patrol eventually returned to our own trenches without other incident. The enemy put up a barrage between MACUKOVO and pt 1114/1765 (SMOL MAP 3A 1/20000). Remarks. 1 OR to hospital sick, Lt J.H.
