Entry Work on trenches etc. Patrol under 2nd Lieut W.B. CHAPMAN to PITON DE L'EGLISE to watch for enemy movement between PITON des QUATRES ARBRES and MACUKOVO VILLAGE and CARDIFF RAVINE was shelled at 0055 hrs and at 0110 an enemy patrol estimated at 30 to 40 came up the hill and on seeing our patrol opened fire. Our patrol fired three revolver shots and threw one bomb and withdrew. One Bulgar was seen to fall. As patrol withdrew four shrapnel burst over them. Patrol returned safely to our trenches. Remarks. 7 OR to hospital sick.
