Regiment 7th Royal Berkshire
Location Greece, PEARSE RAVINE
Entry Church Parade and Inspections. The following letter was received from the GOC Bde "Dear DENE. I have received the following letter from the Major General Commanding 26th Division:- "The Army Commander came to see me today and asked me express to you his complete satisfaction with the fine fighting qualities displayed by the troops of the Division in the attack on the 24th. Please tell your Battalion Commanders, especially BARKER and DENE (I think myself that the performance of the Berkshires in the taking 05 1/2 and doing all they did with only 6 platoons were very fine). He fully realised the situation in the Ravine, and understands what your Brigade had to face in crossing the JUMEAUX, and that, had the barrage been an ordinary one such as we expected, the attack would have been certainly successful." Yours sincerely. (Sgd) J. DUNCAN. 2Lt HARRIS (ESSEX REGT) joins Bn. S J Dale 2Lt & A/Adjt 7th Royal Berkshire Regt
