Entry Xmas day. Splendid bright keen day. Voluntary service followed by Communion was held at Battn HQ at 1100hrs. The following messages were received from Div and Bde Commanders:- "GOC 78th Brigade. Please convey to COL DENE and all ranks of 7th Royal Berks my appreciation of the manner in which the raid on point 380 and the neighbouring locality was carried out. I deeply regret the casualties but am proud of the excellent behaviour of all ranks and wish to thank the commanding officer, officers, NCO's and men. Sgd GENERAL KENNEDY 26th Div." "OC 7th R Berks Regt. In forwarding the remarks of the Divisional Commander on last nights operations, I would like to say that I consider that those taking part in them showed a high standard of courage and discipline by the resolute manner in which they advanced in the face of great difficulties. I feel proud to have such a staunch battalion under my command Sgd J.D. DUNCAN B.GENL 78th INF BDE. No work was done.
