Location France, La Metz F Valley
Entry 3.15 am. The last Company (C Capt Bird) cleared La Metz Farm Valley. 5.15 to 6.15 am. Battn stood to arms. Wet drizzling rain at times. Routine in billets. [Following document included in war diary.] BOURG Occupation of trenches which exist for protection of BOURG village. Companies will in case of alarm, occupy sections of defence as under. B Coy (Capt Lucas) from MOULIN to the BOURG - VENDRESSE Rd inclusive. A Coy (Lt Belcher) thence to C of COURTONNE inclusive. Protection of guns included. D Coy thence to Mt de Ribaudon (incl) less one Ptn. Reserve. C Coy and one Platoon D Coy on west side of BOURG - VENDRESSE Rd 400 yards north of main X roads in village. Machine guns with reserve. Ammn Carts to accompany companies. Mattress cart and dressing stn at Med. Insp. Rm. All other transport to clear village to the south. TO select site for parking and report. HQ with reserve.
