Regiment | 6th Royal Berkshire |
---|---|
Location | France, La Boisselle |
Entry | 2/Lts LH Saye and HB Sadler - Sgt Glen and Cpl Smith (A Coy) proceeded to a Course at Div School. Sgt Fudge proceeded to Base to instruct recruits. No 9929 L/Sgt CJ Hitch B Coy - wounded. This is the 2nd time this NCO has been hit. The OC 19th Lancs Fusiliers came up to the trenches, preparatory to that Bn taking over the next day. The enemy made another abortive effort against the TAMBOUR, all quiet in our sector. We have come to the conclusion that the troops opposite to us were of inferior quality. They showed themselves more plainly than has been our luck so far (our snipers accounted for three certainly - & 2 others thought to have been hit). there was no initiative on the part of their infantry, our patrols neither seeing or hearing any movement outside their wire. Their MG was good as was also their TM fire. |
