Entry | The morning began quietly. At 11-15am our Artillery opened fire on the German front line trenches opposite the R of our sector. This bombardment was most effective. About 50 yards of their trenches were flattened out and the wire looks as though it had been destroyed. During the bombardment we sent over many rifle grenades and some TM bombs. Enemy scarcely replied. In the afternoon the enemy was active with rifle grenades and various types TM bombs but we sent over more than reached us and they discontinued their fire. GAS passed down the line. No result. |
