War Diary

1916-01-06
Regiment 6th Royal Berkshire
Location France, Buire
Entry The Bn relieved the 10th Essex Regt in the trenches. The relief was carried out without incident & was completed by 1-30pm. Gum-boots were drawn from Bde Store at ALBERT, so that the troops could come into the trenches dry-foot. Pte J Davis - D Coy - accidentally wounded before leaving BUIRE. Finding of Court of Enquiry - Accidental. The trenches on the R. are deep in mud and difficult to get along, those on the L which are in the chalk being in much better condition. The enemy opposite this sector does not appear to be enterprising. Our patrols were out all night and the wiring of our front line carried on with.
