Entry 2/Lt St. JB Matthews - wounded by Rifle Grenade at 8am - died after operation at No. 5 CCS at 5-15pm.This officer is a great loss to the Battalion. Enemy are very active with Rifle Grenades. We have none with which to reply - though these have been asked for times without number. Lieut R Litten and Lieut FC Heffer - promoted Temp Captains dated 6th Sept & 23rd Oct respectively. 4 men struck off the strength - sick.
