Regiment 6th Royal Berkshire
Location France, La Boiselle
Entry Col Metcalfe RA came over in the morning to go into the question of strict co-operation between the infantry and RA. The corps Commander - Gen Morland & the B'dr came round the trenches. The Germans remain pretty quiet- They sent some "whizzbangs" into the wood at BECOURT. Our guns fired on them during the afternoon. Pte Vincent - "C" Coy (one of the new draft) killed. Pte Condon - "B" Coy wounded. AT 10.25pm one of our mines N of ILOT was fired. Germans at once replied with sausages into B& D Coy - Our Hows and 18 pounders and Trench Mortars replied - while the Germans used sausages - whizzbangs and rifle grenades. Some MG and rifle fire went on. Damage to us practically NIL. Two trenches being blown in and blocked - and two men in D Coys sector badly shaken by a sausage landing on the roof of their dug-out. The strafe soon died down to occasional shots - and at 3.30am the enemy sent over some more sausages which did no damage.
