War Diary

1915-10-08
Regiment 6th Royal Berkshire
Location France, La Boiselle
Entry Pte Sandford - A Coy killed. The enemy has much strengthened his position since we have been in billets. Adjutant called to ALBERT to attend FGCM. A lot of work is necessary to put the trenches into thorough repair for the winter and to improve the fire trenches. Enemy seem quieter - and are evidently working hard to improve their positions. We have little or nothing with which to reply to their sausages - aerial torpedoes and rifle-grenades. Our trench mortar Ammunition besides being very scarce - fails to explode on most occasions. The weather is fine, but turning cold.
