1915-09-26
Regiment 6th Royal Berkshire
Location France, La Boiselle
Entry An attempt was made by us - in conjunction with the RA - to get the enemy to man his parapet at 5am. To this end - a cheer was raised but owing to the mist - the result of the experiment could not be observed. One of our mines was exploded opposite LA BOISELLE at 2pm. A bombing party of 5 went out to hold the lip of the crater. Pte Peach of D coy was killed - and Pte Phillips was gassed. Pte Stimpson - "A" Coy - was wounded. The Norfolks commenced to relieve us at 3pm. The relief was carried out without incident by 9pm. The battn went into billets in ALBERT. The last Coy reached its billets at 12 midnight. The billets in ALBERT are very good. The best we have had. Good water and plenty of facilities for cooking.
